Ryan Giggs named player-coach at Man Utd

Man Utd winger Ryan Giggs has been named as player-coach. The Welsh wing wizard will join part of David Moyes' new look backroom coaching team, after today completing the signing of Phil Neville.

  • Giggs had supposedly considered retiring at the end of last season, but then Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson persuaded Giggs to play on for another year.<br />

    "I'm delighted that Ryan has accepted the chance to become player-coach," said Moyes.<br />

    The player, who turns 40 in November, was clearly delighted to have been named part of the team.<br />

    "I'm really looking forward to working alongside David and the team," said Giggs.
