Arsenal Prepared For Improved Bid For Luis Suarez

10 July 2013 - 19:24

It appears as if Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger has become increasingly disillusioned with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain’s long running transfer saga. Wenger has now redirected his focus to the controversial Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, as reports claim that the Arsenal boss is prepared to place a €40.7 million offer for the Uruguayan.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Gunners have been pushing for Suarez’s transfer, following their enquiry about the availability of the striker last week. It was reported earlier that Arsenal have made a €34.9m bid for Suarez but reports suggest that Wenger is willing to pay up to €40.7 million for him.

Wenger had earlier almost sealed the deal with Higuain for an improved offer of €26.9m but the La LIga giants were insistent on the €29.7m amount for their striker. Arsenal’s interest in Higuain has still not faded but the club has decided to keep its options open.

Arsenal, with the big transfer kitty they have got this summer, made a shock move for Suarez last week but their enquiry was rejected by Liverpool who are reluctant to sell the player. Suarez, who has expressed his fondness for Real Madrid, is also delighted with Arsenal’s interest in him.

Suarez, in an interview with the Uruguayan radio station Sport 890, said that:

"Are there any concrete options? No, so far there hasn't been any. There are two or three clubs who I think are willing and the club knows that”.
