Arsenal Make Fresh Bid For Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez

23 July 2013 - 19:37

Arsenal have made an expected yet astounding bid worth €49 million for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. It is believed that the Londoners have offered to pay €41 million up-front, in addition to €8m in the form of add-ons.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Gunners had previously attempted to sign the Uruguayan with an initial offering of €41 million, which was instantly rejected by Liverpool but with all the money at hand, Arsene Wenger is not in the mood to give up. He has placed a much better offer this time and it is expected to cause some unrest in the Brendan Rodgers led club.

At the start of the transfer season, it appeared as if Wenger was ready to make some big signings with the reported £70 million transfer kitty, he had been provided with. But as the window nears its end, it looks like another summer of false hopes, as the manager has yet to make senior signings.

Arsenal had initially led the race for Gonzalo Higuain, who is now reportedly set to join Napoli after he agrees personal terms. Even though he is still a subject of interest for Arsene Wenger, it is understood that the manager has made Suarez his first priority as a marquee signing.

Liverpool are not willing to part with Suarez but manager Brendan Rodgers has already confirmed that the striker could leave if his valuation is met.
