Liverpool accept Napoli offer for Martin Skrtel

30 July 2013 - 11:49

Liverpool have moved a step closer to completing a deal for Slovakia international dfender Martin Skrtel. The 28-year-old fell out of favour at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers last year, and Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has had an 8 million Euro offer accepted.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Napoli have begun a huge transfer spending programme since the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris St Germain; having secured the signings of Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina on loan for the coming season. On top of that, it appears that Napoli also want to sign the former Zenit St Petersburg defender Skrtel as well.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers appears to have moved a step closer to signing Kyriakos Papadopoulos, so already have a ready made replacement for Skrtel should they sign the Greek international centre back.

Skrtel is expected to fly to Italy tomorrow for a medical and to discuss personal terms, a deal could be wrapped up by tomorrow evening.
