West Ham still chasing Marco Borriello

West Ham still chasing Marco Borriello

02 September 2013 - 13:43

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce's efforts to bolster his squad before the end of the transfer window look set to come to fruition as reports from Italy indicate the Hammers are on the cusp of agreeing a loan deal for AS Roma forward Marco Borriello.

  • Chelsea handed boost in signing Alejandro Garnacho?
  • Arsenal likely to unveil second signing this weekend

  • The Italian international is no longer required at his current club and has been told by manager Rudi Garcia he is free to leave on loan for the season.

West Ham have been scouring Europe to find a new striker, with the likes of Fabio Quagliarella and Jefferson Montero linked with moves to Upton Park. However, it appears those deals have fallen through due to financial restrictions at the Hammers.

What is now being reported is that West Ham chairman David Gold has given manager Sam Allardyce a small budget to spend on a striker meaning that the Hammers have made a significant step forward in their pursuit of Borriello.
