Liverpool ease to victory over Crystal Palace to reclaim top spot

06 October 2013 - 04:33

Liverpool have reclaimed the top spot over Arsenal in the Premier League table for 24 hours at the very least after a dominant first half display against relegation threatened Crystal Palace which sealed a comfortable 3-1 win.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Early goals from Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge put the Reds to an early lead at Anfield, after which Steven Gerrard made it 3-0 by tucking away a controversially given penalty in the 38th minute.

Eagles keeper Julian Speroni put on a spectacular performance to keep the scoreline from being annihilated by the home side.

Liverpool played well within themselves in the second period as they kept a good defensive setup for most of the game making Crystal Palace work hard to break them down.

The Eagles grabbed a consolation goal from Dwight Gayle in the 78th minute to make amends for their first half display, but couldn't add more goals to the tally as the Reds registered three points to send them top of the Premier League.
