Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for West Ham defender Winston Reid. The centre back has impressed in the Premier League for the Hammers and could now make a move to one of their London rivals.

Arsene Wenger has been personally tracking the progress of the defender for the last 18 months, with Reid impressing the Frenchman with a series of strong displays at the heart of West Ham's defence.<br />

With Arsene Wenger currently having three top class central defenders to choose from in Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen; there is no immediate need to bring in another centre back. However, it is understood that Arsenal are preparing for a departure for Thomas Vermaelen, who has instructed his agent to find him a new team in search of regular first team football.
