Javier Hernandez to be offered new Man Utd contract

17 November 2013 - 06:00

Manchester United are ready to make a new contract offer to Mexican international striker Javier Hernandez. The forward had been linked with a transfer to Premier League rivals Tottenham over the past month.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Fernandes unhappy with Man Utd role under Amorim

  • The striker has been unhappy over a lack of playing time in recent months, with forward pairing Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney preferred to the Mexican. However, the club are ready to show that Hernandez has a long term future at Old Trafford with a massive £120,000 a week new deal. This is a significant improvement on the £60,000 that hte striker currently earns and manager David Moyes is also set to re-assure the Mexican that he will be a member of his first team plans for the remainder of this current season.

The forward's agent and other representatives are set to arrive for talks at Old Trafford on Tuesday afternoon during the international break as the club are eager to start discussions now to prevent an imminent bid for the player in the January transfer window.

Hernandez had previously hinted that he would consider a transfer away from Old Trafford but it now appears certain the Mexican wants to stay at David Moyes' side.
