Sergio Aguero ready for Manchester City return

Aguero - still not ready to return to action

Sergio Aguero ready for Manchester City return

22 February 2014 - 09:35

Man City have received a welcome boost that star striker Sergio Aguero will be returning to training on Tuesday. The Argentina international has been out of action since the end of January after picking up a hamstring injury and now faces an anxious wait to see if he will return to action in time for the Capital One Cup final against Sunderland in March.

  • The player resumed light training over a week ago and is working hard in training to make sure that he plays some role in the crucial cup final against Sunderland on March 2nd. Whilst Man City have an array of attacking talent with the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko all fighting for a first team place, it has become evident that City are missing the goals Aguero can bring having just scored two goals in their last four games.

It is certain that Aguero will be missing this Saturday's crunch Premier League tie against Stoke City and manager Manuel Pellegrini is still not sure when Aguero will return to action. Chilean manager Pellegrini told reporters: "Sergio is not working 100 percent normally. I think next Tuesday he will start working with the whole squad again."

Manchester City slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League last week and will be hoping Aguero's return will give them a chance of qualification to the next round of Europe's showpiece competition.
