Manchester United are monitoring the progress of highly-rated Marseille starlet Benjamin Mendy, with a view to a summer offer for his services.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the Red Devils boss David Moyes had sent scouts to watch the talented defender in action for the Ligue 1 club on several occasions this season.
Mendy, who joined Marseille from Le Havre last summer, has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks.
With veteran defender Patrice Evra likely to leave the Mancunian giants at the end of the current campaign, the 19-year-old is considered as a potential replacement, should the club fail to secure the services of Southampton's Luke Shaw.
