Man Utd sack David Moyes

Moyes gets the sack

Man Utd sack David Moyes

22 April 2014 - 11:38

Manchester United have officially announced the dismissal of David Moyes as manager following a dismal first season at the club.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Widespread reports had suggested on Monday that the Scotsman was on the verge of losing his job following the club's 2-0 drubbing at Everton last weekend.

Moyes never light up Old Trafford following his appointment via the recommendation of Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who called time to his glittering 27-year career at the Mancunian giants at the end of last season.

The Red Devils have gone through their worst patch in many years, and 15 defeats in all competitions was enough for the Glazer family to part ways with the former Everton boss.

The club confirmed the news via their Twitter page, which read: "Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

Reports elsewhere reveal that Ryan Giggs could be given the interim manager's role, with Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal currently the front-runner to land the job in the summer.
