Arsenal agree Sami Khedira fee

16 July 2014 - 07:15

Arsenal have agreed a fee with Real Madrid to sign midfielder Sami Khedira. Arsene Wenger has been tracking Khedira for most of the summer and it is understood that a 20 million euro package has been wrapped up for the Germany international.

  • The World Cup winning defensive midfielder is being lined up as a long term replacement for Mikel Arteta, who could head for Fiorentina in this transfer window.

Khedira, who joined Arsenal trio Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil in Germany's World Cup squad, will become Arsenal's highest paid player if he agrees to a move to North London.

The Gunners have already signed Alexis Sanchez this summer but are pushing for at least three new players as Arsene Wenger builds a squad he hopes is capable of challenging for the title next season.
