PSG rule out Di Maria move

French giants PSG pull out of the race for Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria

PSG rule out Di Maria move

07 August 2014 - 12:24

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have ruled out any possible move for Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria citing budgeting reasons.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Argentine international’s future had been under constant speculation over the past few weeks and a move to the Ligue 1 club seemed imminent at one point.

But in a recently held press conference to unveil their new summer signing David Luiz, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed that the club could not afford to buy the 26-year-old.

"We spoke with Real, Di Maria was too expensive," he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

Laurent Blanc’s side have already been found in breach of the Financial Fair Play regulations, and will be allowed only a 21-man squad in the Champions League instead of the usual 25, including a minimum of five home-grown players.

English giants Manchester United are now believed to be leading the race to lure the player to the Premier League, as the Red Devil’s boss Louis van Gaal hopes to add a bit of flair to his attack.
