Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign German winger Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • According to German newspaper Die Welt, the Gunners look set to beat Liverpool and Bayern Munich in obtaining the services of the 25-year-old, after it was rumoured that the player rejected to sign a contract extension with the Bundesliga club.

Reus’ current contract with the Black and Yellows will run out next summer, and the paper claims that with a suggested release clause of just £19.8million, Arsene Wenger, who is a huge admirer of the player, is keen on bringing him to the Emirates.

Since joining the Signal Iduna Park outfit in 2012, he has made 90 appearances and scored on 42 occasions. He was an essential part of Joachim Low’s side that went to Brazil for the World Cup but was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an ankle injury he sustained during a warm up game.

Though boss Jurgen Klopp seems reluctant to let go of the star player, it looks like he will lose yet another man this season after the departure of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich over the last year.
