Manchester United prepare one last bid for Mats Hummels

11 August 2014 - 08:20

English giants Manchester United have reportedly prepared one last bid for World Cup winning centre-back Mats Hummels to sway him away from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Reports in The Daily Star suggest that newly appointed manager at Old Trafford Louis van Gaal has made one final £30m for the 25-year-old to test the resolve of the German club.

Hummels has been a top transfer target for the Red Devils this season, as they look to strengthen their defence, following the departure of Rio Ferdinand to Premier League side Queen Park Rangers and skipper Nemanja Vidic to Inter Milan.

But the Black and Yellows’ boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear of his intentions of not letting the German international leave, and has named him the new skipper of the Signal Iduna Park outfit in an attempt to convince the player to stay.

United already lost their other defensive target Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona yesterday, and should the Hummels-deal fail to come through, they will have to pursue Dutch international Daley Blind from Ajax.
