Danny Welback still being tracked by Sunderland

Sunderland still pushing for Welbeck transfer

Danny Welback still being tracked by Sunderland

21 August 2014 - 12:39

Man Utd striker Danny Welbeck is still a surprise target for Sunderland manager Gus Poyet. The England international is reportedly fourth choice striker for United manager Louis van Gaal.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao

  • The forward, who is widely considered one of England's regular first choice frontmen but unable to force his way into Manchester United's squad, is frustrated with a lack of playing time at Old Trafford and is said to be open to a move elsewhere.

Sunderland coach Gus Poyet is desperate to wrap up a deal for a striker before the transfer window closes and it appears a deal to bring Fabio Borini to the club from Liverpool has fallen through at the last minute.

Welbeck is still considered an important member of the squad at Man Utd but should the player request a transfer, the forward will be available for a fee of around 15 million pounds.
