Newcastle United have tabled a shock loan bid for Jermain Defoe. The England international striker is reportedly set for a loan deal from Toronto back to the Premier League.

  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao

  • Toronto have struggled so far this season in the MLS and currently lie in fourth place in the division. Yesterday the club decided to part company with coach Ryan Nelsen and are now expected to begin a major overhaul of their squad.

Newcastle coach Alan Pardew missed out on a deal to sign Loic Remy after the former QPR man moved to Chelsea instead. The Toon Army have also missed out on Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette and are now hoping to bring in former Spurs forward Jermain Defoe on a temporary loan deal until February.
