Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is reportedly set to make a switch to Liverpool next month, according to The Mail.

The Spain international left the Catalan giants this summer, and had been linked with French giants AS Monaco, before a cruciate ligament damage ruled out his potential transfer.

A report from The Mail claims that the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sees Valdes as the perfect option to provide competition to current number one Simon Mignolet, and will land his signature next month once he recovers from the injury.

Valdes made 535 appearances for the Catalan giants in all competitions.
