Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his astonishment at watching the club spend big during the recently concluded transfer window.
The Red Devils managed by Louis van Gaal paid out over £150m to bring in the likes of Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Angel di Maria, Daley Blind and loan signing Radamel Falcao to the club.
Ferguson believes that it is improbable to sign a top-class player nowadays, unless a club spends a huge chunk of the transfer budget.
"Certainly it's amazing, the amount of money spent nowadays." the legendary manager said.
"My personal opinion is that it's never going to change, the world is progressing, and transfer fees with it, and I don't know if there will be an end to it. Fortunately, I'm not at the hub of it nowadays."
