08 September 2014 - 23:38

Manchester City are prepared to make a January swoop for Southampton's star striker Jay Rodriguez, according to a report.

  • Chelsea set asking price for Nicolas Jackson
  • Man Utd handed major injury boost for Liverpool game
  • Rodriguez, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, is believed to be on the radar of the Citizens, with manager Manuel Pellegrini keen on adding a suitable replacement for Alvaro Negredo, who joined Valencia on a season-long loan.

According to The Sun, the reigning Premier League champions are keen on signing a top-class striker with home-grown status, and consider the former Burnley star as their prime target.

In addition to this, the Mancunian giants are willing to make a bid of around £15m in order to lure the Saints into letting go of their star asset.

Rodriguez has scored 26 goals in 76 games for the Saints so far.
