Manchester City are reportedly confident of luring Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos during the winter transfer window, according to The Star.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini managed the talented Spaniard whilst he was the manager at Los Blancos.

The Star reports that the Citizens will make an ambititous bid to seal a deal for the 28-year-old when the transfer reopens in January.

In addition to this, the Mancunian giants are open to offering the former Sevilla star with a contract worth £7.7m a year.

Ramos, who won the Champions League with Los Blancos last season, is also being monitored by Chelsea.
