Arsenal line up £32m bid for Dortmund defender

15 October 2014 - 23:41

Arsenal are understood to be readying a January offer for the services of Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, according to The Express.

  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The German international had a great summer with the national side as they clinched the World Cup after a 24-year wait.

Hummels had attracted interest from Manchester United over the summer, until he brushed off rumours of a possible transfer.

However, The Express now claims that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing the talented defender in order to provide stiff competition to Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker at the heart of the defence.

The report adds that the North London club will bid a fee in the region of £32m for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January.
