Multiple reports have suggested that the Mancunian giants could seek to bring in a new striker following Robin van Persie's departure to Fenerbahce.

However, PA Sport cites that the Dutchman intends to play club captain Wayne Rooney in the centre-forward role for the upcoming campaign.

It is added that summer signing Memphis Depay could be the man to provide support to the England international upfront next season.
