Atletico Madrid have re-signed Brazilian defender Filipe Luis from Chelsea on a four-year deal.

The 29-year-old has rejoined the Basque outfit following a single season with the Premier League holders.

Luis struggled to cement his place in the Blues' starting line-up last season, with manager Jose Mourinho favouring Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of him in the pecking order.

Atleti have now confirmed the left-back's return to Vicente Calderon for a reported fee of around £15m.

"We all know Filipe Luis. We strengthen ourselves with one of the most talented wingers in the world. He already knows our club and our way of playing so he will adapt quickly," Sporting director Jose Luis Perez told the club's official website.
