Martin Skrtel sidelined for six weeks

Liverpool will be without the services of defender Martin Skrtel for six weeks after he pulled his hamstring in the 3-0 defeat at Watford.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Slovakian centre-back picked up the problem in the first-half of his side's mauling at Vicarage Road.

Recent speculation had claimed that the player had suffered a long-term setback and could be out for at least three months.

However, the 31-year-old has cleared doubts over his injury via his instagram account.

"After all [the] rumours going around, I want to say the time I will spend on [the] sideline won't be three months. After I suffered [a] tear in my hamstring and tendon I will be out for six weeks," he posted.

Skrtel has amassed over 300 appearances for the Reds following his switch from Zenit St. Petersburg in 2008.
