Manchester United will step up their interest in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, should they fail to get a deal done for Borussia Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Red Devils have lodged a fresh bid for Mkhitaryan after BVB snubbed their initial £19m offer for the Armenian international.
According to The Sun, Ramsey could be the subject of a transfer bid from United, if the club's negotiations for Mkhitaryan fall through.
United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be a huge admirer of the Welshman, and a bid of around £50m is likely to be made to test the Gunners' resolve.
Ramsey has played a key role for his national side, who have reached the knock-out stages of this summer's European championships.
The 24-year-old joined the Gunners from Cardiff City in 2008 despite concrete interest from former boss United boss Alex Ferguson.
