Tottenham Hotspur have seen an £11 million bid for Dutch striker Vincent Janssen rejected by AZ Alkmaar, according to The Daily Mail.
Spurs are in the hunt for a new striker this summer, as they look to lighten the goal-scoring burden on Harry Kane's shoulders, and they apparently view Netherlands international Janssen as the ideal option.
And The Daily Mail are today reporting that their opening bid of £11 million has been turned down by the Dutch club, who value Janssen at closer to £16 million.
The 22-year-old former Feyenoord youth player is also thought to be on the radar of West Ham United, as well as Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg, but Spurs are clear favourites to secure his signature.
Janssen, who has 5 international caps to his name, maybe be familiar to England fans as one of his three international goals came during a recent friendly with the Three Lions at Wembley.
Stylistically, the young Dutch striker bears a resemblence to Kane, as he is powerful in the air, and a deadly finisher with the ability to hold the ball up expertly.
Having scored 27 goals from 31 Eredivisie appearances last season, Janssen caught the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs. And although Tottenham have been linked with a host of strikers this summer, Janssen would prove an astute purchase for manager Mauricio Pochettino, as he embarks upon a Champions League campaign next season.
