Matuidi flies to England ahead on potential Premier League switch

Paris Saint Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi left the France national team camp this morning to fly to England to discuss a possible transfer, according to reports in France.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • It is claimed that the 29-year-old midfielder flew to England earlier today to discuss transfer business with an as yet unnamed club.

Matuidi was a regular starter for PSG last season, helping his side retain the Ligue 1 title while completing a domestic treble.

It was reported earlier in the week that, after the arrival of Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla for €25 million, the French champions would listen to offers for Matuidi.

And it now appears that an offer may have been received, with Matuidi supposedly discussing personal terms with a club in England.

The news of Matuidi's trip to England sparked debate and rumours online as to which club he could be in discussions with.

Many assume that Manchester United would be the most obvious choice as the player is a client of super agent Mino Raiola, who has recently concluded deals to take Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford, while the Red Devils remain interested in another of his clients, Paul Pogba.

Matuidi is currently participating the UEFA European Championship in France, so it seems unlikely that any deal to take him away from PSG will be concluded until after the tournament.
