Drogba: the hardest bit done

Drogba: the hardest bit done

21 January 2008 - 22:48

Didier Drogba has praised his Ivory Coast side for their efforts after a Salomon Kalou goal was enough to earn them 1-0 victory over Nigeria putting the Ivorians firmly control of Group B.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • The Salomon Kalou strike was enough to earn the Elephants a victory over one of their biggest rivals for the tournament.

"It is an important victory because we won against our main rival for top spot in the group," said Drogba after the game.

"Nigeria were the most dangerous team and I think the most important bit has been done."

The Chelsea striker himself played despite not being fully fit, but refused to focus on himself.

"Today, it's not about me, it's all about the team," he said.
