Evertpon are set to battle it out with Manchester United for the signature of Southampton defender Jose Fonte. The 32-year-old is available for a £9m fee this summer.
Fonte was a prime figure for Portugal this summer as they went to beat France and lift the Euro 2016 title - the first major honour in the nation's history.
According to The Record, Toffees boss Ronald Koeman will consider a raid for his former player with John Stones seemingly close to joining Manchester City.
But, there will be competition from United, who are on the search for an experienced centre-back to fill their ranks.
Southampton have already sold the likes of Graziano Pelle, Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama in the transfer window, and Fonte could be next to head through the exit door.
Fonte is currently the Saints' longest-serving player having joined them from Crystal Palace in 2010.
