Swansea City have rebuffed a £10m offer from Everton for Welsh defender Ashley Williams. The 31-year-old is currently the club's longest-serving player.

  • Recent reports suggested the centre-back was on the verge of joining of the Toffees after they settled on a transfer agreement with the Swans.

However, according to BBC Sport, the Swans have turned down the offer, and are not keen on losing their captain before the start of the new season.

"We are not looking to sell him, and therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table." a club's insider said.

Williams has yet to report for first-team training as he has been given an extended break for his Wales exploits at Euro 2016.

Everton boss Ronald is looking to recruit a central defender to his ranks this summer before permitting the £50m sale of John Stones to Manchester City.

Williams has appeared in over 300 games for Swansea City since his switch from Stockport County in 2008.
