Arsenal want to sign James Rodriguez on loan

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has opened discussions with Real Madrid regarding a mega money loan move for Colombian international James Rodriguez. The forward has yet to force his way into Real's first team on a regular basis, despite a promising first season at his current club.

  • It is understood that Arsenal are ready to pay up to 5 million euros a season to Real Madrid to sign Rodriguez and will also pay the entireity of Rodriguez's 150,000 euro per week salary to bring him to the Emirates.

    Rodriguez is expected to play as third choice forward behind Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo this season and Real boss Zinedine Zidane will let Rodriguez depart his club in order to acquire more first team experience in preparation for a return to Madrid where he will eventually become Cristiano Ronaldo's long term replacement.
