Yann M'Vila heartbroken after Sunderland snubbed permanent deal

02 September 2016 - 07:03

France international Yann M'Vila has insisted that he was distraught after missing out on a permanent move to Sunderland this summer.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 26-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan with the Black Cats where he produced a string of impressive performances to keep them within Premier League safety.

The Wearside outfit were in discussions to land the Rubin Kazan midfielder on a long-term contract earlier this summer, but with the appointment of coach David Moyes, the deal was brought to a premature end. Rubin had demanded fees in excess of £8m for the player which was well above the Black Cats' budget - £5m.

M'Vila vented up his frustration via an Instagram post which was later deleted, it read : "I called Sunderland but they are not picking up the phone. Why? My heart has broken."

The midfielder, who was once on the radar of Arsenal, has been training apart from his Rubin teammates as he has no future under manager Javi Gracia.

Sunderland did make a deadline day signing in Didier Ndong from Lorient, and he will take M'Vila's place in midfield this season.
