Chelsea still keen on Stefan de Vrij

De Vrij back on Blues radar

Chelsea still keen on Stefan de Vrij

15 September 2016 - 07:33

Chelsea reportedly remain in the hunt for Lazio's Stefan di Vrij as they seek a potential replacement for veteran defender John Terry. Blues boss Antonio Conte wants an additional centre-half in his ranks despite re-signing David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • According to Italian source Calciomercato, the Blues will retain their interest in the Netherlands international in the New Year with Terry likely to be shown the exit door at the end of the campaign.

Terry, 35, was offered a one-year deal over the summer with young Frenchman Kurt Zouma having suffered a serious knee injury in the backend of last season.

De Vrij, who joined Lazio in 2014, missed nearly the whole of last term after he had a recurrence of an old knee problem. He has two years left on his contract, and Lazio are expected to begin talks over a fresh contract in order to sway away the impending interest.
