  • Spanish sports newspaper Sport is reporting that Liverpool have entered the race to sign teenage Swedish striker Alexander Isak.

Isak has earned rave reviews in his home land since making his senior debut for AIK in February this year, at the tender age of 16.

The 6 ft 3 in forward has netted an impressive nine goals from 22 appearances to date, and celebrated his 17th birthday last week be netting a double in a crucial Stockholm derby against rivals DIF.

After that match Isak’s team mate Chinedu Obasi hailed they youngster as the heir apparent to the legendary Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Reds will face stiff competition for the teenager though, as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Leicester City are all believed to be monitoring the progress of the under 17 international.

Liverpool already boast a promising young striker amid their ranks in the form of Belgian international Divock Origi and, if they were able to pull off a move for the highly rated starlet, Isak would likely find it difficult to break onto the Anfield first team ahead of the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge.

But Isak is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on, and seems destined for a bright future in the game.
