AC Milan want to sign Manchester United winger Memphis Depay when the transfer market re-opens in January, according to reports in Italy.

  • Tuttomercato is reporting that Manchester United winger Memphis Depay is a January target for Serie A giants AC Milan, with the Rossoneri lining up a move for the Dutchman.

Depay has struggled to find game time under new manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this season, and has recently expressed his displeasure at having to play a bit part role for the Red Devils.

Depay signed for United from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015 for £26 million.

The Netherlands international was the Eredivisie’s top scorer and helped PSV win the Dutch title the previous season, and had featured in Louis Van Gaal’s squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, in which the Oranje made it to the semi-finals before narrowly losing to Argentina.

Depay showed signs of his potential in an early United appearance against Clubb Brugge at Old Trafford, scoring twice in the Champions League qualifier.

But such displays have been few and far between as the 22-year-old has struggled to make the kind of impact expected of him in Manchester, and a move away from the Red Devils would not come as a surprise to many.

Milan are currently rebuilding under new manager Vincenzo Montella, and a recent takeover could see the Italian coach given money to spend in January.
