La Liga interest in Cazorla

La Liga interest in Cazorla

14 October 2016 - 11:05

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is wanted by a trio of La Liga clubs, with Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla all vying for his signature, according to reports.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • Spanish media outlet Fichajes is reporting that Sevilla, Valencia and Atletico Madrid are all trying to sign Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla.

Cazorla signed for Arsenal from Malaga in 2012 and has been a key player for the Gunners ever since.

But the 31-year-old Spanish international will be out of contract in the summer if he is unable to agree a new deal with Arsenal, and there is plenty of interest in the veteran playmaker from La Liga.

Arsenal reinforced their midfield options this summer with the £30 million signing of combative Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka. And with the likes of Mohamed Elneny, Francis Coquelin, Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi, Arsene Wenger is not short of midfield options.

With a player of Cazorla’s obvious qualities potentially available for free, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Valencia are very interested.

The La Liga clubs will be able to negotiate terms with Cazorla in January, six months before the end of the Arsenal man’s contract, with a view to a switch at the end of the season.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also approaching the end of his current contract at the Emirates, and the Frenchman will be hopeful of mounting a serious title challenge before potentially leaving the club he has been in charge of for 20 years.
