Per Mertesacker set for January exit?

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has hinted to German reporters that he could leave the Gunners in the January transfer window. Werder Bremen is believed to be the centre back's preferred option.

The "BFG" has enjoyed a successful time at Arsenal but with the emergence of defensive duo Mustafi and Koscielny, Mertesacker's time at the club looks to be up. Gabriel is now the preferred 3rd choice centre back at the Emirates.

Werder Bremen have already been in contact with Arsenal regarding Mertesacker's availability and will table a bid of around 3.5 million euros in January to bring the World Cup winner back to Germany.
