Manchester City teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus has undergone surgery in Barcelona on his broken metatarsal, which was picked up during Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Monday.

  • 19 year old Jesus arrived at the Etihad in January for a fee of £27 million and has had a fantastic start to his City career, netting three times in his first two games for the club and keeping striker Sergio Aguero out of the starting lineup.

Jesus was substituted during the win at Bournemouth, which was later confirmed to be a broken metatarsal. City manager Pep Guardiola sent the young Brazilian to see a trusted doctor in Barcelona, and it has been confirmed that the operation went to plan.

When asked if Gabriel Jesus will play again this season, Guardiola has admitted that he did not know. In the meantime, City do have other attacking options, with Sergio Aguero a fantastic alternative, and one that will be out to prove that he should be reinstated as first choice striker.

A broken metatarsal has become a common injury within the world of football, with the likes of David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen just a few that have been in the same situation.
