Chelsea open to Diego Costa sale

Chelsea open to Diego Costa sale

Chelsea are prepared to let Diego Costa leave in the summer, should any side match their £127m asking price. The Spain international was the subject of interest for Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian last month before the Blues snubbed their proposed offer.

  • Costa, 28, had been linked with a potential switch to the Chinese Super League in January with Tianjin having tabled a world-record £90m sum for the player.

However, the Blues opted to turn down advances from the big spenders as they had already lost midfielder Oscar to the Far East earlier in the transfer window.

Costa has since not been in the best of touch, though his two goals in six league games represent a decent tally for any striker.

According to The Sun, the Blues could be tempted to offload Costa in the summer transfer window, should Tianjin manage to up their bid further to a staggering £127m.

The Brazilian-born striker is still said to have the ambition of earning a lucrative salary, and this appears to have stalled a fresh £220,000-a-week contract at Stamford Bridge.

Costa joined the west London giants from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 and has since managed 54 goals across all competitions.
