Fabinho to snub Man Utd for Man City

Monaco star Fabinho looks set to turn down advances from Manchester United amid interest from close neighbours Manchester City.

  • Chelsea star wins PFA Young Player of the Year award
  • Chelsea midfielder won't join Premier League rivals

  • The Brazil international was the subject of a £20m bid from the Red Devils last summer, but the Principality outfit turned down their offer as it was still below their £30m valuation.

Fabinho started off his career as a right-sided defender, but he has since transformed into a capable performer in a midfield three for Monaco, who have been scoring goals for fun this season.

According to The Independent, the former Real Madrid man is set to snub an approach from the Red Devils as he and his father have a 'soft spot' for their arch-rivals.

Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is said to favour the addition of young recruits to his ranks, and Fabinho has been identified as the perfect fit to take over the right-back role from out-of-contract duo Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta.

Fabinho's Monaco are currently on course for their first Ligue 1 title since 2000 as they hold a three-point lead over perennial champions Paris Saint-Germain.
