West Ham Ready To Rival Everton For The Signing Of Sigurdsson?

West Ham Ready To Rival Everton For The Signing Of Sigurdsson?

22 March 2017 - 12:45

Swansea City would have probably been relegated this season if it was not for Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Swans are still not safe from facing the drop at the end of the campaign and are sitting only a single place from the danger zone. They are three points above third from bottom Hull City and will need to pick up at least another 10 points this season if they are going to avoid dropping into the Championship.

In 29 appearances so far this season the Icelander has scored a total of eight goals and created 58 chances for his team-mates. In a team that is hovering above the relegation zone, these are excellent stats. His form has attracted the interest of both West Ham and Everton who are both willing to pay around £25 million to tempt the player to join them. The player had the chance to move over the January period but decided to say as he was desperate to help his team escape the drop.

It was only last summer that Sigurdsson signed a brand new contract with the club keeping him at the Liberty Stadium for another four years. Things have not gone well for the Swans this season but under new manager Paul Clement it has improved. The Swans have struggled to get wins this campaign and in the few that they have managed to secure three points, generally Sigurdsson has been instrumental in the performance. In the EPL he has managed to either score or assists in most of the wins this campaign.

Last season Sigurdsson was the standout player at the Liberty Stadium and was voted the player of the season. He managed to find the back of the net 11 times during the 2015/15 campaign and helped the team over perform. At 27 years old it is vital for the player that he is playing at the highest possible level during his best years and Swansea are not able to offer the midfielder that presently.

New manager Clement is determined to keep the player but he has a tough battle on his hands. With both Everton and West Ham outperforming the Swans this campaign, it will be tough for the player from Iceland to turn down the move.

Once the season is over the player will be able to take the time to carefully decide his next move. If the Swans get relegated it is almost certain that he will move on as he is far too good to be playing in the Championship. With Romelu Lukaku looking to move from Everton they will be in desperate need to find new players to score the goals. One thing that Sigurdsson guarantees is goals and the move makes sense for both parties involved.

There is a range of football betting sites to choose from that you can use to put on a wager on this transfer happening. The move makes sense due to the player's age and desire to play at the very top. He will still remember the awful time he had when he moved to Spurs as he struggled to get match time. It will play a big part in his decision so it depends on which club that bids for his services can guarantee the midfielder playing time.
