Benzema sees his future with Real Madrid

Benzema wants to retire at Real Madrid

24 March 2017 - 16:08

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has said that he dreams of ending his career at the Santiago Bernabeu and also revealed how much he enjoys playing under the management of his fellow countryman Zinedine Zidane.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Benzema has come under fire from some Real Madrid fans this season, despite the fact that he has contributed sixteen goals for the team in his thirty six appearances this season. The Frenchman is the most understated member of the "BBC" strike force that leads the Real lineup, with most of the publicity going to Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Despite this, Benzema has supplied a constant flow of goals since he arrived at the club seven years ago.

Regardless of those critical fans, Benzema told the RMC Show that "there are no other clubs that light up my future like Madrid. It would be a dream to finish my career at Real Madrid." At the age of 29, Benzema still has years left in him, and with manager Zinedine Zidane appearing to be a fan of him, it would be no surprise to see the striker remain at the Bernabeu for years to come. That respect is mutual, with Benzema explaining that Zidane "does not panic and he calms us", which allows the players to play with confidence.

One Frenchman who apparently does not rate Benzema as highly as Zidane is France manager Didier Deschamps, who has again emitted the Madrid number nine from his squad selection for the ongoing international break.
