Barcelona respond to Hector Bellerin transfer talk

Bellerin won't join Barca this summer

Barcelona respond to Hector Bellerin transfer talk

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez admits that his side would find it 'very difficult' to re-sign former La Masia graduate Hector Bellerin from Arsenal this summer.

  • Mikel Arteta confirms big injury boost for Spurs clash

  • The Spain international has bee linked with a potential return home during the previous summer transfer window after which he inked a fresh six-year deal at the Emirates.

Bellerin has since had an average season by his standards, but this has not warded off interest from Fernandez, who has watched the right-back in action during the course of the season.

While Bellerin is said to be on Barca's radar, Fernandez insists a deal would be improbable this summer given the Gunners willingness to keep hold of their key asset.

"Of course Hector is a good player but it would be very difficult," Fernandez told Mundo Deportivo. "He is well known. He is playing at a great level but there are also other players that have good characteristics.

Bellerin, who missed the cut for the latest Spain squad, recently admitted that Barcelona's interest in his services is something 'special'.

Barcelona have failed to replace Dani Alves since his departure for Juventus last summer, with the likes of Sergi Roberto, Aleix Vidal (injured) and Rafinha sharing the duties on the right side of the defence.
