Cesar Azpilicueta flattered by Barcelona interest

01 April 2017 - 05:04

Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta admits that he is flattered to be linked with a club of Barcelona's calibre but he is happy at Chelsea for now.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The 27-year-old has been one of the most in-form defenders during the ongoing campaign after having formed an impressive bond alongside David Luiz and Gary Cahill in a three-man defence at Stamford Bridge.

Azplicueta inked a fresh three-and-a-half year contract with the Blues in December last year, and he is committed to the Premier League leaders despite the interest from Barcelona.

“The truth is right now I am only thinking about Chelsea and I feel loved here. I’ve been here five years now and I extended my contract not long ago,” he told the Guardian. "Of course it’s flattering to be linked to Barcelona: it means you’re playing well. "

Azplicueta, who arrived in west London from Marseille in 2012, is being seen by Barcelona as a replacement for right-back Dani Alves, who left for Juventus nearly a year ago.

But, it appears that the Catalan giants may have to look elsewhere with the player settled in the English capital where he is on course to lift yet another Premier League title.
