Manchester City are planning an attempt to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who faces an uncertain future beyond the current campaign.

  • The Costa Rica international has been one of the consistent performers for the European champions in recent times, but he could part ways with the club this summer with Manchester United's David de Gea being earmarked as a potential replacement.

According to The Star, the Citizens are planning an approach for the Los Blancos shot-stopper with both Wilfredo Caballero and Claudio Bravo having failed to cement their positions as the club's number one.

City boss Pep Guardiola has the option of playing Joe Hart on his loan return from Torino in the summer, but the Englishman's lack of mobility appears to hinder his future.

It is added that the 30-year-old could make a surprise switch to local rivals United, whose shotstopper De Gea could start a chain transfer between the clubs involved.

Manchester City are currently placed fourth in the league standings with 66 points - with just four games to play.
