Jose Mourinho plotting raid for Man City star

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly lining up a move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero with the promise of regular first-team football next season.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Argentine has had a mixed spell with the Citizens despite his goalscoring prowess, and his future remains a doubt beyond the current campaign.

According to The Times, Mourinho has an eye on the former Atleti man, who is yet to win over Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

Guardiola had decided to swap Aguero for a young Gabriel Jesus in the second half of the campaign, and only an injury to the latter brought the Argentine back into contention.

Both Gabriel and Aguero have since played together in a couple of games, but Pep is still said to favour a new centre-forward in his ranks ahead of next season.

United are in desperate need of striking options amid the uncertainties over the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney next term, and this will urge them to move in for Aguero with a view to offering him the lone role upfront.

Despite the ongoing speculation over his future, Aguero has managed to amass 31 goals in 42 outings for the Citizens across all competitions this term.
