BSC Young Boys star Denis Zakaria will be subject of a bidding war between Liverpool and Tottenham and could see his value rise beyond €10million

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The 20 year old Swiss has attracted attention from Europe's elite clubs after bursting onto the scene this season, with Bundesliga trio Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke and most recently Liverpool and Tottenham, all looking to sign the midfielder.

Having parents of both South Sudanese and Zaire descent, Zakaria is born and raised in Switzerland and started his professional career at Geneva-based club Servette before moving to Swiss giants BSC Young Boys in 2015. Standing at 6ft 3in, Zakaria has been compared to Premier League legend Patrick Vieira.

After a successful first season, Zakaria was given a call-up by the Swiss national team for Euro 2016. Since then, he has already earned three caps for his country. This season has been a breakout season for Zakaria and his talent has attracted many of Europe's elite.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick, both Liverpool and Tottenham are now in the race to sign the midfielder and the bidding war will start at €10million, with the price expected to rise even further as the transfer window opens.

Zakaria would be a worthy addition to both the Premier League sides, with Tottenham looking for a heir to Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, while the uncertain future of Eric Dier would make Zakaria a more important signing.

Liverpool's defensive midfielders Lucas Leiva and Emre Can have sometimes been exposed this season and Jurgen Klopp will be looking to beef up his midfield with this signing.
