Four teams, one dream - the battle for play off success

The Championship play off semi finals begin on Saturday

Four teams, one dream - the battle for play off success

12 May 2017 - 20:04

After enduring a long, closely competed Championship season, four teams now know that they are just three games away from earning a place in next season's Premier League. Saturday sees the first semi final get underway, ahead of the final at Wembley on May 29.

  • Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Chelsea, Odegaard starts
  • Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal star is doubtful to face Chelsea

  • Saturday's play off semi final first leg sees Fulham host Reading at Craven Cottage. Fulham have scored the joint highest number of goals in the Championship this season and they will be hoping to take a lead into a difficult second leg at the Madjeski stadium.

On Sunday, the other two teams involved in the play offs, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday go head to head. Huddersfield were challenging strongly for an automatic promotion spot for much of the season, but a run of just one win in their final five league games saw them slip to fifth place. They will be hoping that they can turn that form around against a Wednesday side that can be very dangerous.

Three of the four teams involved in this year's play offs have been in the Premier League previously, and all four of them are desperate to be there next year. It is very hard to call, with all of the clubs competing having shown on numerous occasions this season the quality that they possess.
