As a top four finish in the Premier League is now out of Manchester United's reach this season, they will have to perform much better next time around if they are to challenge for the title. Reports today suggest that the club will look to challenge for the top of the table, by signing a trio of Tottenham players who have been doing so this season.
Today's Daily Star reports that Manchester United are plotting a big money move for three of Tottenham's England internationals. Kyle Walker, Eric Dier and Danny Rose are the stars linked with a move North, for a combined fee of £110 million.
If this deal could be done, it would be a great bit of business for Manchester United. Despite all of the big name attacking players that are being linked with the club, it is in the defensive area that they massively need to improve in. A lack of depth in that department has at times caused Mourinho to employ overly defensive tactics, meaning that a stronger defence would allow the attacking stars to play their natural game.
Although Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to hold on to their key players, Jose Mourinho is said to be prepared to offer to double their wages, in an attempt to unsettle them at their current club.
